This is one of the most famous theaters in Rome, so of course we will be visiting it! Here we will note some major differences between Greek and Roman theaters, such as the semi-circle orchestra pit and the stage house in the back.

In order to get a taste of Roman theater, we will be holding a Q&A with one of the great Roman playwrights, Plautus. He was the most popular of all comic writers in Rome. In talking to him, we will be able to see why Roman comedy is still very popular.

In order to help you understand Roman theater, we will be seeing the modern day play A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. In it we will be qualities of Roman theater, as it is based on several plays by Plautus.
